The Stainless Steel Self Aligning Bearing Series is made using races that are made from stainless 440C Steel. The balls are also made of made of 440C Stainless Steel. 440C Stainless Steel is a hardened bearing steel that is more resistant to corrosion than standard steel bearing steel making it a longer lasting bearing. Self Aligning Bearings have two rows of balls and one, concave spherical raceway in the outer ring. As a result the bearing is self-aligning and insensitive to misalignments of the shaft in relation to the housing. Self Aligning Bearings are particularly suitable for applications where considerable shaft misalignment is to be expected. Self Aligning Bearings also have the lowest coefficient of friction of all rolling bearings so it is capable of running cooler at higher temperatures.
