Keep Your Brushless Motor Temps Down To Keep Your Speed Up!
In the summer months, when you're out at the track, and the sun is beating down, you have to stay cool to perform at the top of your game. The same holds true for your brushless motor. Excessive temperatures can lead to diminished performance or even failure on the track. The last thing you want is to have your motor crap out on the last lap! Fear not! There are a few things you can do to keep your motors running cool.
Give it air!
One of the easiest ways to make sure your motor stays cool is to make sure it is properly ventilated and getting enough air. Don't be afraid to cut out small sections of the body to increase air flow. Be sure that the other electronics and components aren't blocking any airflow to the motor.
In addition to making sure you're venting in enough air, you can also add a fan it you have the room to spare. Fans can plug into an empty channel port on the receiver, or your can use a Y-Cable to split the power with something else.
Sink the heat!
You can also opt for a clip-on heat sink to keep it cool. Heat sinks are very small, and maximum contact makes them very effective at drawing heat out.
Bearings in mind
The final option we recommend is to upgrade your bearings. The more efficient the motor turns, the less heat it will generate.
