Clear Signals

You might only drive one regular car or truck, but chances are you have a growing garage of RC vehicles at your disposal (forgive us if this article leads to more!). That’s just the nature of RC. It’s hard to have a favorite when vehicles are so insanely fun to drive in different conditions.

We understand. After all, we’ve been serving this industry for over 35 years.

With that said, let’s take a look at some choice options for a spectrum of different driving styles and conditions.

You know you want to.

ALL AROUND VEHICLES

Traxxas Rustler XL-5
Traxxas has a stellar reputation among RC car enthusiasts, and the Rustler XL-5 makes it easy to see why. It’s super easy to set up and get rolling, and the trigger/wheel remote makes driving it a pleasure. It’s got big tires, sealed electronics, and great ground clearance to tackle a variety of road surfaces, and its 7-cell NiMH rechargeable battery can push it up to 35 mph.

It’s limited to about 15 minutes per charge, but it’s priced exceptionally well for its feature set, so you shouldn’t fear upgrading the batteries if desired.

Team Associated RC10T6
The RC10T6 is a great option for more experienced racers who like to tinker under the body. The lightweight hard-anodized aluminum chassis offers three mid-motor positions for tuning your handling to different track types, and it has two-piece rear hubs with aluminum upper caps for making precise geometry adjustments.

The T6 is a very popular model, and there are lots of aftermarket upgrades available for maxing out speed and performance.

RACING VEHICLES

HPI Racing 101850 Vorza Flux
The Vorza Flux is a sleek rallycross buggy that merges high performance, style, and tweakability to deliver pure thrills to experienced drivers. Its massively powerful Flux Tork 2200 brushless motor cranks out speeds up to 60mph, and a fully adjustable drivetrain and suspension allows you to fine tune handling for crisp turns on even the tightest corners.

It doesn’t come with batteries, but its adjustable battery tray allows you to swap out NiMH for LiPo batteries to give you all the power and runtime you need.

Arrma Typhon 6S V4 4WD BLX Buggy
If speed is your thing, you’ll have trouble beating the Arrma Typhon 6S. It’s good to go right out of the box, but with the right battery, you can hit speeds up to 70mph. Normally, that kind of speed might spell disaster in a crash, but the Typhon is super-rugged and the front basher plate was designed for head-on collisions. It’s even got a waterproof receiver box for wet conditions.

Like most vehicles of this calbre, you have to supply your own batteries, but a 4 or 6 cell LiPo battery will make this thing really scream.

OFF ROAD VEHICLES

Redcat Racing Volcano EPX
There’s no mistaking the Volcano EPX for the off-road beast that it is. Its beefy, durable frame and chunky tires, high suspension, and rugged front basher plate make it clear that it was made for whatever you can throw at it.

As you would expect from an off-road truck, the Volcano EPX is not super fast (top speed is about 20mph), but it’s more than stable on all kinds of uneven terrain, and it’s waterproof enough to stand up to wet and snowy conditions.

Axial Wraith 1.9
The Wraith not only performs like a champion over rocks, dunes, or whatever, but it looks like one too. It has working headlights, adjustable oil-filled shocks, and a replica V8 engine under the hood that boxes up the Spektrum SRX200 receiver, protecting it from water, dust and debris. Its dual-slipper clutch and 4-link rear suspension max out the Wraith’s speed and handling, delivering amazing performance that looks absolutely stunning.

With so many awesome RC vehicles on the market today, this article could easily go on forever. But we’ll let you find some more room in your garage for these picks first.
