As the company in 2022  turns 35 years old, nostalgia grants the opportunity to reminisce about the past and how the company reached this major milestone. Boca Bearings, like many other family-owned companies, had humble beginnings.  Allen and Michele Baum married in 1984 started the company back in 1987 from a bedroom in their Florida townhouse. However, unlike other small businesses Boca Bearings had two visionaries at the helm that would turn a dream into a legacy.  

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Michele was a natural entrepreneur. Sadly, Michele passed away in 2001, yet she left her mark and a  lasting legacy.  For Women’s History Month we honor her memory. Allen remarked “Michele did everything from picking orders, customer service, sales, and marketing. She  worked with us side by side every day until the last year of her life.” Michele as the driving force of the company set the foundation for  Boca Bearings to become 35 years later the leader of ceramic bearings. 

Not only did Michele shouldered the company’s early years, but she also inspired Boca Bearings’s corporate commitment to social causes such as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign and the ACCEL Scholarship Program. The ACCEL program is made possible by the Allen, Dena, and Michele Baum Scholarship Fund. The scholarship has the objective to proactively promote and foster interest, enthusiasm, and excellence in mechanical engineering among young people who may continue to pursue careers in engineering-related fields. Women are highly encouraged to apply.

Now, looking into the future for another 35 years, with a new brand look and feel and in honor of  Women’s History Month the company celebrates Michele’s hard work, vision, and legacy.
