Last week I attended eMerge Americas in Miami, Florida. The purpose of this event is to provide a gathering point for startups and technology enthusiasts to network and converge on various projects.
The conference includes a few different focuses including a hackathon event, keynote presentations from well known executives, a startup showcase competition, and the expo floor.
One startup is developing a game designed to compete with the popular mobile game Pokemon GO. VarDragons is an augmented reality game centered around pet dragons. These creatures can be found and captured based on the current GPS location of nearby airplanes.
Students at Miami Dade College created an environment for a remote controlled car to operate autonomously.
A company by the name of MYOLYN is developing a Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) bike designed for paraplegics. This product will allow individuals with various neurological impairments to partipate in cycling therapy.
These are just a few of the many highlights of this great event. More information about eMerge Americas can be found here.
